THE ART OF SENSE OF PLACE & BELONGING

The inner pilgrimage to traverse ideas, places, and sensations....

Title: "Belonging to Abstraction

#I and #II".

Painting allows me to encompass the spiritual sense of place.

Intuitively I create abstracts,  building with layers of paint and texture

until a piece of art reveals itself.

"Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance".  by Brene Brown.

Title: Belonging I.

A botanical nut or seed holds the essence, of its origin of place,

symbolising the interconnectedness between people and their "place".

 Below... Title: Belonging II.

"Vibrant natural colours, fluid shapes and patterns - embrace the natural world and give a sense of connection.  These shapes represent a vessel, or a container, like little holding-bodies, a place where nuts or seeds might belong.

I commenced my art journey with Botanical Art and items from Nature, in the art style of Realism, I use traditional subjects and art mediums. This practice led to an inner pilgrimage to explore various art ideas.

My journey has been shaped by my responses and artistic expression, from combining the painting of Botanical Art and Abstract exploration.

Painting Abstract Landscapes became part of my journey as I became more aware of

" a connection to a place and sense of place".

The serendipity of art and the unpredictability of mixed media, hopefully invites the viewer to embark on a rich experience.
